Job Duties & Functions
- Complete daily job accomplishment reports as required.
- Adhere to scheduled work hours and arrive on time.
- Repair and construct furniture and fixtures as needed.
- Work from drawings or verbal instructions, utilizing a variety of carpentry hand and power tools, including saws, mortisers, drill presses, and wood lathes.
- Remodel and repair cabinets, counters, shelves, tables, and other furniture.
- Replace and repair door closures and locks.
- Alter and repair various building structures, such as walls, partitions, doorways, window frames, stairways, and roofs. Install window glass and screens, and apply wall and floor coverings.
- Install ceramic and other types of tile.
- Refinish furniture and paint or stain building interiors and exteriors.
- Conduct all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Estimate time and material costs for carpentry projects and requisition necessary materials and equipment.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or a relevant skilled trades program, along with 0 to 2 years of experience.
- Performs tasks under direct supervision.
- Addresses basic issues and refers more complex problems to higher-level staff.
- Has a foundational to intermediate understanding of the subject matter.
- Exhibits strong verbal communication, social, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates above-average comprehension skills for following safety regulations, instructions, and interpreting building blueprints.
