Description
St. James Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Missouri is seeking a Bookkeeper who will work under the supervision of the Pastor and will be responsible for handling the details of the parish’s budget, financial transactions, keeping accurate records and ensuring that payments are processed. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week.
Duties:
- Create and manage parish budget.
- Process accounts receivable and payable and corresponding general ledger entries.
- Create financial reports: balance sheets, cash flow statements, profit and loss reports.
- Create invoices and bills for clients.
- Make bank deposits.
- Track and monitor financial transactions.
- Enter financial data into accounting software.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- File parish tax forms.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills to exchange information clearly and concisely in a professional manner.
- Adapt to changing business needs, conditions and work responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and financial transactions.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping.
- Intermediate skill level using Quick Books.
- Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office products.
- Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
