Description

Job Summary

The Laser Press Programmer will be responsible for programming and operating laser cutting and engraving machines to produce high-quality products. This role requires a strong understanding of CAD/CAM software, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and optimize laser cutting   programs using CAD/CAM software. 
  • Set up and calibrate laser machines for   specific projects, selecting appropriate materials and settings. 
  • Operate laser cutting machines or other machinery, ensuring production runs smoothly and efficiently. 
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed during the cutting process. 
  • Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to create accurate machine programs.
  • Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues as they arise.
  • Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to meet project deadlines and requirements.
  • Train other team members as needed. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to attendance policies, ensuring punctuality and reliability in reporting for shifts. 
  • Comply with all safety regulations and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in laser technology.
  • Participate in training sessions and safety meetings. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Manager or Lead.

Working Environment

  • The role will be performed in a manufacturing facility that may be noisy, with exposure to machinery, equipment, and tools. 
  • May involve exposure to dust and fumes. 
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, safety shoes) are required.
  • The environment is temperature controlled. 
  • Regular interaction with team members and supervisors in a collaborative atmosphere.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certification preferred. 
  • Minimum of three years programming and operating laser cutting or CNC machinery. 
  • Minimum of one year training or experience with machining techniques. 
  • Experience in manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (i.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Familiarity with programming languages specific to CNC machinery.
  • Strong understanding of materials and their properties related to laser processing. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to laser operations.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds - Occasionally (15-45%)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours) - Continuously (over 75%)
  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery and handling materials – Frequent (50-75%)
  • Vision acuity for reading measurements and inspecting work – Frequent (50-75%)
  • Good hand eye coordination - Frequently (50-75%)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed - Occasionally (15-45%)
