 Job purpose

The Activities Director oversees all aspects of the of the Activity program. This individual will design curriculum and activities to encourage socialization. provide entertainment. relaxation, and fulfillment. while working to improve the daily living skills of our residents. The Activities Director should display strong leadership ability and a passion for working closely with the elderly population. This person will display a positive attitude and enthusiasm. Delegated responsibility to perform duties as stated in The Community Policies and Procedures and in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.

Accountable for the day-to-day supervision of all staff assigned to you. Supervision to include oversight of each assigned staff members’ job performance. including but not limited to. continuous, predictable, quality, safe and efficient care to Community residents.



Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Activities Director is tasked with planning, implementing and evaluating activities. in addition to coordinating schedules and maintaining equipment and rooms designed for activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include the following:

• When applicable, daily preparation and maintenance of snack areas and ensures snacks. beverages. coffee. etc. are replenished

• Monthly management of food and liquor inventory

• Create and distribute newsletters, activity calendar. daily flyers. etc.

• Plan and prepare parties for all major holidays and events including weekly Happy Hour, including entertainment. set-up. communication. etc.

• Decorate building for holidays and themed events

• Plan enriching outings that the residents would like to attend

• Co-coordinate and facilitate monthly Resident Council meetings with Executive Director

• Contribute to the QMP program

• Review and respond to Email and Voicemail daily

• Manage and adhere to the monthly expense budget

• Assist team in identifying and monitoring the spiritual. Recreational and emotional needs of the residents

• Report noticeable changes in residents’ conditions. to Wellness team

• Perform continuous, ongoing supervision of department team members. including but not limited to training. discipline, counseling, motivating. and evaluating

• Oversee and assist in the recruitment and selection of competent staff for our team

• Present a professional demeanor that communicates the Community philosophy of care and services to current and prospective residents

• Handle all residents. family and staff concern and complaints politely, caring and professional manners

• Fills-in for department when needed

• Works as Manager-on-Duty as directed by Executive Director.

• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

• Eager to Learn and to be a Part of a Strong Team

• Pass Background Check

• Pass Routine TB Test

• Have yearly seasonal flu shot

• Able to use general office equipment and computer systems as required

• Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance

• Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team

• Has familiarity and willingness to work with elderly population, including people with dementia

Working Conditions:

May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. Please wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.

Physical requirements

Must be able to meet physical demands of lifting and moving over 30, sit, stand, bend, lift, push, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours. Moving at a high pace for long periods of time. 

Hours and Dress Code 

Exempt, salaried position (Hourly can be discussed). Must be available to work 40 hours weekly, including nights and weekends. Business casual which includes slacks or khakis, dress shirt or blouse, open-collar or polo shirt, sweater, and loafers or close-toed shoes.
