Description

SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Executive Director of Finance and is primarily responsible for supporting the Finance Department with a wide variety of functions which include transactional processing, financial analysis, budget monitoring, and cost allocations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Process and post monthly/quarterly expense allocations.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets.
  • Prepare and post payroll liabilities entries.
  • Reconcile A/R and A/P balances to ledgers.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Budget and claim grants.
  • Create adhoc reports requested by Agency staff.
  • Preparation of the 1505 report.
  • Serve as audit lead.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Control.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Finance in confidential projects as needed.
  • Assist with system conversions and process improvements.
  • Prepare financial statements for the Smart Thinking Foundation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:


Experience, Education and Licensure:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is desired. 
  • 3-5 years of prior experience working in an accounting position is desired.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.
  • Prior experience working within a school district or non-profit corporation is desired.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google platform applications, along with the ability to learn agency-specific applications to support business operations.

  • Possess basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.

  • Knowledge of and ability to follow standard filing procedures.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in a professional and flexible office environment, with or without visual and audible distractions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours during high-demand periods.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  
  • The employee must regularly communicate effectively in person, via phone, and in writing.
  • The employee will lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds frequently.

 

Schedule: 261 Days (12 Months)
