Equipment Operator

Job Summary

To set up and operate assigned equipment used in the production of printed documents. To manage the manufacturing processes associated with the assigned equipment, with an emphasis on safety, productivity, quality, and good housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Input accurate information into our Pro Vision job tracking system.
  • Accurately mark materials with proper identification.
  • Consistently follow quality control procedures and ask questions when needed.
  • Efficiently set up and perform all score, perforate, die cut, fold, and/or combinations of these operations.
  • Perform adjustments to equipment as needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot any printing issues.
  • Maintain a system that keeps all tools and supplies in an orderly manner.
  • Maintain a degree of flexibility in hours of work and availability for overtime work.
  • Prepare orders for shipment in a neat manner utilizing shipping materials and shipping software.

Physical Environment

  • Shop floor work area where conditions are subject to temperature change.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel and crouch and use hands to finger, feel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Contact with and use of inks and cleaning chemicals.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience and/or training or equivalent of education and experience. 
  • Detail and result oriented with emphasis on accuracy and low waste.
  • Team player with sufficient organizational skills.
  • Technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand job jackets and layouts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
  • Working ability to use computer software and operating system.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
