Description

Position Objective: 

To direct and oversee PETA’s public outreach efforts and work with activists to promote animal rights, managing personnel and strategic objectives 


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop, manage, and oversee PETA’s public outreach efforts

• Develop, manage, and oversee PETA’s work with activists and volunteers

• Work closely with and manage and oversee the Action Team and Grassroots Protest Team managers and their staff

• Oversee food outreach efforts including possible food and ice cream trucks

• Work to increase the frequency and effectiveness of PETA's work with volunteers and activists 

• Seek out and develop new efforts to work with activists to further push PETA’s campaigns into spotlight and the public consciousness

• Strategize ways to increase our effectiveness in recruiting and developing activists and volunteers to support our campaigns

• Ensure that PETA builds and strengthens its relationships with activists

• Ensure that PETA provides the best guidance for activists who want to help animals

• Oversee all communication with activists, review emails, E-News, text, and more

• Analyze the effectiveness of PETA's activist efforts and suggest improvements in order to maximize their impact

• Represent PETA’s campaigns work to the general public 

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor 

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years experience working on outreach or grassroots campaigns

• Minimum of 5 years management experience

• Extensive knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns

• Demonstrated effective supervisory or leadership skills

• Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively

• Ability and willingness to travel 

• Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a professional and personable manner

• Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and work independently

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Proven ability to take initiative and follow through

• Demonstrated ability to multitask, work with minimal direct oversight, and meet deadlines 

• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle

• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues

• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization




  

The salary range for this position is $57,450 - $73,486 annually. The ultimate salary within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
