Mile Two has a need to add a Principal Cognitive Systems Engineer to engage and drive our current and future projects to the next level and champion our customer relationships. This role will be central to advancing our Cognitive Systems Engineering capabilities and elevating the strategic and operational impact of our work across a wide range of projects.
This Principal Cognitive Systems Engineer will support the following: mentorship in the Cognitive Task Analysis techniques (including Knowledge Elicitation and work domain analysis); Functional Abstraction techniques; Observational/Ethnographic research techniques; System Analysis techniques; Representation Aiding techniques; Staged-world studies and simulation; Craft and deliver Cognitive Engineering training; Technical writing skills (for proposals and journal/conference/workshop publication)
The Principal Cognitive Systems Engineer will work with Business Development to develop and implement strategic business development plans to win work to achieve company revenue and experience goals, Identify and pursue new business opportunities, and build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs to provide tailored solutions. Cultivate and strengthen relationships with clients, ensuring a responsive, customer-focused approach that enhances Mile Two’s reputation and client satisfaction.
The Principal Cognitive Systems Engineer will be responsible for the management and integrity of the design, conduct, and reporting of the research project and for managing, monitoring, and ensuring the integrity of any collaborative relationships.
The Principal Cognitive Systems Engineer will serve as a Principal Investigator for multiple projects and will be accountable for tracking and driving scientific and technical changes within the domain. This role is integral to Mile Two’s mission of advancing Cognitive Systems Engineering excellence while forging strong, trust-based partnerships with our clients. The Principal Cognitive Systems Engineer will be a pivotal player in ensuring our projects meet the highest standards of technical and strategic value.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree or higher in Cognitive Systems Engineering, Human Factors, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, or related experience (coupled with relevant work experience)
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage the complexity, uncertainty and shifting requirements that come with research-centric projects and rapid prototyping
- Passionate about usability, human-machine teaming, and studying work in practice
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and through writing
- Ability to work independently or in conjunction with a senior team member on system models and artifacts
- United States citizenship status and a security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance is required
- Experience working with software teams
- DoD Experience
- Experience being the Principal Investigator for multiple projects
- Experience writing proposals
- Demonstrated capability to generate leads and support BD process
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ten or more years of hands-on experience with systems engineering and user-centric design
- Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative design processes
- Comfortable leading internal and external meetings
- Experience with commercial software products
- Experience with MBSE
- Relevant publications in CSE, human-machine interface, etc. is desirable
- Domain experience with modeling and simulation, AI/ML technologies, and/or autonomy
- Demonstrated thought leadership in area of expertise
- Comfortable networking, promoting, and cultivating business relationships
- Software development experience
