The Principal Data Architect strengthens the impact of and provides recommendations on business information. This information will need to be available and shared consistently through the identification, definition and analysis of how information assets drive business outcomes. They understand the impact of the various data and analytics (D&A) applications (like data science or machine learning) on the overall enterprise architecture, and work with the enterprise architect on the D&A architecture strategy and supporting platforms. The data architect is able to lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions. They may also develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support data analysis and business intelligence.  The data architect can create and maintain current- and target-state data architectures, define and manage standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality, and ensure technology solutions are in alignment with data architecture principles and the target state.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated data architecture skills – examples of data architectures previously developed.
  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of data mesh principles.
  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of US federal data architecture standards and policies.
  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of data science tools.
  • Demonstrated experience developing DoD data architecture.
  • Data serialization and deserialization experience
  • Experience working in Google Cloud, AWS, and/or Azure

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in one of the above listed disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience as a chief data officer.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior government officials managing competing equities of various government stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex concepts across a diverse stakeholder population.
  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of Department of Defense data and data architecture policies and guidance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data interoperability concepts and experience implementing the same.
  • Demonstrated skills in communicating with executive and senior level government staff, both in briefings and written documents.
  • Experience collaborating across federal agencies and commercial companies.
  • Experience working with openUCX framework
  • Experience working enterprise scale (10,000 + users) data platform
  • Proficiency in python
  • Proficiency in compiled programming language
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Experience working with technologies like BigQuery, Spanner, Alloy
