Description

An attorney is responsible for serving our clients by efficiently evaluating and handling cases resulting in the best possible outcome for the client. Attorneys are expected to represent the Firm by conducting themselves in accordance with our Core Values. Attorneys also play a role in managing and delegating work to staff, including but not limited to, paralegals and secretaries. This process includes but is not limited to tasks as such:

  • Facilitating timely communications with vendors, clients, and outside counsel (written and oral) 
  • Build / Maintain rapport with clients
  • Creating budgets/ monitoring expenses; recommending cost-saving opportunities
  • Drafting and filing pleadings 
  • Performing discovery requests and factual investigations 
  • Conduct legal research on as needed basis 
  • Compose routine and dispositive motions 
  • interviewing clients / witnesses
  • Preparing and conducting depositions
  • Legal Writing
  • Trials / Hearings (law clerks excluded) 
  • Motions
  • Selecting / retaining experts
  • Case evaluation
  • Supervising paralegal staff
  • Entering billable time

  • Updates professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities / CLE

Qualifications

  • Admission to the Delaware Bar
  • 2-5 years’ experience in the legal industry, preferred not required

Physical Requirements

Attorneys must be able to alternatively, sit for long extended periods of time but also stand and walk (remain on feet) for extended periods of time. Position also requires extended periods of repetitive bending, twisting, stooping, and squatting with the ability to lift and carry frequently up to 30 lbs. The ability to work overhead and below waist level is also required. Attorneys must be able to spend extended periods of time working with computers, focused on monitors, doing repetitive typing and keyboarding. Attorneys must be able to drive/operate a motor vehicle and have reliable transportation. Attendance within keeping with the attendance policy is an essential element of the job.


As the Firm works in a fast-pace, adversarial process, Firm employees must have a tried and proven psychological/ mental capacity to also work in an often stressful, fast-pace, litigation environment.
