Texas Biomed is searching for a Medical Technologist III or IV to join our team. This position will manage, maintain, organize and coordinate activities for the clinical pathology laboratory. Responsible for supervising, delegating and coordinating the work of other staff as assigned. Will assist management in directing, monitoring and evaluating work of personnel engaged in performing laboratory tasks by establishing work priorities and assigning work to staff. Function as a technical resource to investigators and veterinary staff.
The Role:
· Performs quality control testing of equipment; performs and documents instrument standardization, troubleshoots and performs minor repairs of equipment; documents equipment operation and maintenance.
· Performs specimen processing and testing on various laboratory animal species for clinical and
research protocols.
· Assistant manager of the Laboratory Information System, helps maintain system. Validates test results in Laboratory Information System and provides printed reports as requested.
· Coordinates collection, processing and shipment of specimens to various reference labs.
· Maintains records, inventory and restocking of laboratory, and also maintains cryo banked specimens.
· Monitor quality assurance and take corrective action when appropriate. Maintains quality control/assurance records, understand and apply Good Laboratory Practices.
· Provides supervisory assistance in the management of all clinical laboratory functions.
· Review, write, and/or revise departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
· Prepare cost analysis, workload statistics, departmental invoicing and adjust fees for services.
· Respond to audits by regulating agencies or quality assurance groups.
· Assist in personnel management activities to include work allocation, interviewing, orientation and training and evaluating performance. Make recommendations for personnel actions and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. May conduct employee counseling.
· Meet with Investigators, Veterinarians, Program Managers and Team Leaders to coordinate projects and facilitate specific requests. Prepare project specific quotes for Research Coordination. Manage projects to include developing a plan, coordinating necessary resources, keeping technical staff informed, and completing project within established time limits. Monitor expenditures and justifies significant variances.
· Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills to include identifying problems and taking appropriate action; communicate necessary information to the Lab Manager.
· Assist Lab Manager in management of all laboratory functions.
Our Ideal Candidate:
· Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology/Science from an accredited college or university.
· Requires MLS (ASCP) or CLS certification
· Requires five years of generalist clinical laboratory experience involving multiple disciplines.
· Occasional weekend or evening on-call duty may be required.
