Job summary:
As a UAS Consultant at Airspace Link, you will be involved in state-of-the-art UAS implementation projects across the United States. Government and commercial entities will look to you for guidance and UAS subject matter expertise to integrate drones into the national airspace. Joining the efforts of our Implementation Services and Business Development teams, you will provide operational, strategic, and technical expertise for small- and large-scale drone operations projects and participate in strategic conversations around product roadmap and UAS operational strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the PM to act as technical lead on projects.
- Collaborate internally and externally to provide technical updates around strategy, assignments, and timing
- Support BVLOS conversations for product roadmap, sales proposals, grants, RFPs, etc.
- Provide SME to Product Managers that contribute to new product features and product offerings
- Participate in sales conversations with customers in person and virtually to determine and define UAS project objectives, requirements and scope
- Understand and highlight resources needed to reach UAS objectives in each project and help compile LOEs
- Write technical project scope supporting proposals, grants, RFPs, etc.
- Contribute to UTM conversations around product functionality and attributes
- Stay abreast of UAS regulations for Part 108 and standards bodies
- Maintain information security within your area of the organization
- Other responsibilities as assigned

Travel Required: ~20%
- Bachelor’s or master’s in aerospace engineering, aviation, or similar
- 5+ years of UAS technical experience in consulting, research, or another field that requires deep technical expertise and UAS regulatory knowledge
- Strong knowledge of FAA UAS regulations including BVLOSASTM Standards, UAS aircraft technology, and airspace surveillance technology options
- Experience overseeing BVLOS operations and FAA BVLOS waiver process preferred.
- In-depth experience in drone operations software, including Ground Control Stations (GCS), work order management, mapping solutions, risk mitigation, and crew & asset coordination tools.
- Knowledge of drone aircraft variants and payloads a plus
- Work closely with clients to execute on scope and continue to advise and consult to help define the client’s future UAS roadmap.
- Able to listen to client needs and translate them into requirements and recommendations for a UAS operations management solution that Airspace Link can implement.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to be able to work efficiently cross-functionally with multiple internal and external stakeholder
