About the Role
Fortis is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of FP&A to join our high-growth fintech organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will play a pivotal role in driving financial strategy, analytics, and business intelligence across the company. Given the fast-paced, often dynamic nature of the payments industry, this position requires a high degree of creativity, resourcefulness, and adaptability. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment of rapid change and be energized by the challenges that come with navigating evolving priorities and uncovering innovative solutions. This individual will contribute to Fortis’ growth by enabling better decision-making, enhancing financial visibility, and bringing strategic insights to a fast-evolving landscape. This position may be based in our Plano, TX office or alternatively, remote candidates will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Lead the comprehensive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for Fortis, partnering closely with the CFO to align financial and strategic goals. Build robust, actionable reporting frameworks to support data-driven decisions and variance analysis.
- Financial Modeling & Analysis: Develop and maintain complex forecasting models, often from the ground up, to support diverse business units and analyze critical areas such as portfolio pricing, operational expenses, and revenue growth.
- Executive Reporting & Communication: Independently prepare executive/BOD level reports and presentations, providing insights and clear recommendations for senior leadership, board members, and private equity stakeholders. Communicate financial data in a way that supports strategic decision-making at the highest levels.
- Business Intelligence Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Technology team to drive Fortis' Business Intelligence strategy, developing integrated reporting tools that elevate data accessibility and insight for all levels of the organization.
- Expense Management & Process Improvement: Implement and refine processes for expense management, supporting department heads in budget management and cost efficiency. Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting by enhancing tools, including the integration of NetSuite ERP and other BI resources.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Build strong, cross-functional relationships across technology, sales, product, and operations, promoting alignment on financial objectives, opportunities, and potential risks.
Qualifications
- Industry Expertise: 10+ years of finance experience with a background in payments fintech, including deep exposure to strategic planning, financial analysis, and budget management.
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong experience with large data environments and tools like SQL, SAS, and Access. Familiarity with Amazon Quicksight and NetSuite ERP is highly preferred.
- Private Equity Experience: Proven experience working in a private equity-backed environment, with a solid grasp of PE-backed performance metrics and reporting.
- Advanced Financial Modeling: Expert in MS Excel with the ability to create sophisticated financial models and forecasts.
- US GAAP Knowledge: understanding of US GAAP and its application within a payments or financial services context.
- Excellent Communicator: Demonstrated ability to distill complex analysis into concise, actionable insights for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Collaborative & Strategic Mindset: Skilled in partnering across functional areas, fostering teamwork, and promoting success within a fast-paced, high-growth fintech environment.
