ABOUT THIS ROLE

Associations International (AI) is an association management company based in Lexington, KY, who partners with non-profit trade and career associations. Our job is to help those non-profits meet their mission and grow their membership through the work of our talented, dedicated team.  


Our client partner, the International Coaching Federation (ICF), is seeking a Director of Artificial Intelligence to join their team! The Director of Artificial Intelligence will lead ICF’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives, focusing on how AI can shape the future of professional coaching. This role is critical in providing guidance and exploring, developing, and implementing AI strategies that will enhance the coaching profession, ensure ethical AI practices, and support ICF members in integrating AI tools and technologies into their practices. The Director of Artificial Intelligence will report to the COO of ICF and will work closely with cross-functional teams, industry experts, and external partners to drive innovation while upholding the highest standards of coaching excellence.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a.) Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute an AI strategy aligned with ICF’s mission and vision
  • Identify opportunities where AI can enhance the coaching profession, including AI-driven tools for coaching practice, professional development, and client management
  • Collaborate with the executive team to integrate AI initiatives into the broader organizational strategy
  • Advise the CEO and GE Board on trends and perspectives in AI 

b.) Innovation and Development:

  • Lead research and development efforts to explore AI applications in coaching, such as AI-powered coaching platforms, virtual coaching assistants, and predictive analytics for client outcomes
  • Stay informed about the latest AI trends, technologies, and ethical considerations, and apply this knowledge to the coaching context
  • Foster partnerships with AI experts, academic institutions, and technology providers to drive innovation

c.) Ethics and Governance:

  • Establish and maintain ethical and safe guidelines for AI use in coaching, ensuring that AI tools align with ICF’s core values and the Code of Ethics
  • Oversee the development of AI governance frameworks to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI-driven decision-making processes
  • Advocate for safe and responsible AI practices within the coaching community, balancing technological advancement with the human-centered nature of coaching

d.) Education and Support:

  • Develop and deliver educational programs and resources to help ICF members understand and leverage AI in their coaching practices
  • Provide guidance on the integration of AI tools into coaching workflows, including best practices, potential risks, and opportunities for enhanced client engagement
  • Serve as a thought leader and spokesperson on AI-related topics, representing ICF at industry conferences, webinars, and other events
  • Offer tailored resources and support to ICF chapters, assisting them in educating their members on AI advancements and how to apply these tools within their regional coaching practices

e.) Data and Analytics:

  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to AI initiatives, providing insights to inform strategic decision-making
  • Develop metrics to assess the impact of AI on coaching outcomes, member satisfaction, and organizational performance
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, or a related field, with a focus on ethical AI practices
  • Proven experience in leading AI initiatives within a professional services environment, preferably in coaching, consulting, or education
  • Strong understanding of the coaching industry and ICF’s mission, with a commitment to promoting high standards of coaching excellence
  • Experience in, and appreciation of, the non-profit landscape is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex AI concepts into practical insights for diverse audiences
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with external partners
  • Strong ethical orientation, with a commitment to responsible AI development and use
