Sr. Industrial Engineer

Sigvaris is currently looking for a Sr. Industrial Engineer to join our team in Holland, MI.  As a leading compression solution provider, we are not just a company that manufactures products.  We are a global team on a mission to help people feel their best.  The Sr. Industrial Engineer develops and evaluates new processes and improves capabilities, efficiencies and productivity in all areas of manufacturing.  This position has the responsibility to identify and execute solutions for improvements in safety, quality, productivity and cost.  The position primarily supports the Holland Manufacturing organization and works as a leader in a matrix style across multiple stake holders in production, product development, sourcing, and accounting.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     • Develops/Maintains BOM and cost calculations for manufacturing process.

     • Conducts time and motion studies of manufacturing processes, measures work patterns and methods of employees with the goal of establishing reasonable production standards.

     • Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout and operational data such as production cost, process flow charts and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.     

     • Manages cost reduction program including overseeing projects assigned to your team and directly executes projects.

     • Key member of the yield improvement team.

     • Provides ongoing support to operations management and is a part of the operations management team ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost and company policies are followed by all employees.

     • Participates in Sales, Marketing and R&D meetings to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability and that the plant resources are in place and capable to deliver required quality, cost, and schedule.

     • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency, reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, and relocation of workstations and/or equipment.

     • Creates work instructions, forms, SOP's, job aids and manuals to ensure best practice.

     • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

     • Coordinates with raw material suppliers to ensure best mix of cost and quality; holds suppliers accountable to specifications. Works with suppliers to develop new or improved materials.

     • Capital equipment justification, selection, installation and commissioning.

     • Maintains positive and professional working relationship with all departments and/or current and potential vendors using a "partnership" approach.  Generates effective communication, good relations and a positive service-oriented image with co-workers promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness.

     • Stops any unsafe equipment or practice.

     • Leads and facilitates the plant Kaizen events utilizing lean principles.  Monitors continuous improvement results as well as identifies and implements opportunities to enhance the program.  Considered a subject matter expert in implementation of lean tools.

     • Lead and facilitate problem solving and root cause analysis to improve product yield, product cost.

     • Support the Sigvaris Quality System and Quality Policy by following work instructions and creating and maintaining records to meet all internal and external requirements.

     • Fosters positive morale among staff, by promotion of open communication with all departments, to help create and maintain an innovative and cooperative staff relationship and environment.

          o Interacts with external and internal customers in a manner conducive to continued positive relationships.

          o Displays patience, courtesy and tact; demonstrates flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to cooperate while working with others or in place of others as necessary.

     • Demonstrates effective communication methods.

          o Appropriate management staff are kept informed of developments affecting their functions.

          o Responds quickly to all oral and written communications.

          o Maintains and encourages an open line of communication with both internal and external customers; using the appropriate style to ensure clear two-way communication with different audiences (senior management to new shop floor employees).

          o Accurately and legibly presents written data to affected internal/external customer.

     • Follows established company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with SIGVARIS policies, industry standards, ISO 13485 standards, 6S, and Lean Manufacturing, and Federal, State and local laws.

     • Assists with the implementation of Lean/Kaizen initiatives or events in the department.

     • Follows all work instructions, creates and maintains accurate records to meet all internal and external requirements to support the SIGVARIS Quality System and Quality Policy.

     • Use statistical process and product controls where appropriate.

     • Accurately performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure an efficient workflow.

Requirements


EDUCATION and WORK EXPERIENCE:

     • A bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.

     • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

     • Medical, textile and/or cut and sew experience highly desired.

     • Experience with standard product costing systems

     • Prefer someone with Project Management Certification

     • Prefer someone with Lean Six Sigma Certification


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This job operates in both an office and manufacturing environment (production floor).  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filling cabinets and fax machines.

     • Regularly required to sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, bend, lift or climb.

     • Occasionally required to lift weights (less than 25 pounds).

     • Finger dexterity and hand coordination required.

     • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust or focus.

     • May require occasional travel to GA location and material/equipment suppliers.
