Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm On-site in Rochester, NY

 25% travel both nationally and internationally

Compensation: $90,000-$150,000, based on experience. 

  

ViewMM is seeking a Semiconductor Applications Engineer who will be responsible for driving business growth by developing and executing sales strategies for metrology equipment within the semiconductor industry. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, engaging with customers to understand their technical needs, and offering tailored metrology solutions that enhance their manufacturing processes. 

The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong business acumen to build relationships and close deals in a highly competitive environment. The selected candidate will join a dynamic team as a key member of the senior staff that will work with our worldwide applications teams. This is a multi-discipline role that will require combining ViewMM products and technologies to provide integrated solutions in a dynamic, production-oriented environment. 

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment with direct experience in metrology or inspection. The candidate will participate in the development effort for the next generation optical metrology products used for advanced process control of leading-edge semiconductor devices as well as other applications that will further the success of ViewMM. 

  

Role and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to promote metrology solutions within the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
  • Identify and engage with prospective clients, building strong relationships with decision-makers and technical teams.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to understand their metrology and process challenges, offering customized solutions that meet their needs.
  • Provide technical expertise during the sales process, including product presentations, demonstrations, and consultations.
  • Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscape in semiconductor metrology.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, product development, and marketing, to ensure alignment on customer needs and product offerings.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to the overall revenue growth of the company.
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and trade shows to showcase the company’s metrology solutions.
  • Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure.
  • Directly provide systems and applications development that satisfy integrated production-oriented solutions in the customer’s manufacturing environment. This will require multiple core technologies, development environments, disciplines,      programming languages, communications protocols, and data integration in unique manufacturing environments. 
  • Participate with a global team of development applications engineers and managers.
  • Provide creative and innovative solutions and guide implementation and execution. 
  • Provide technical guidance to staff and actively participate in product roadmap decisions.
  • Provide development and engineered solutions which add value to the ViewMM products. 
  • Lead key customer collaboration and technical programs for product solutions development, customer research and development, and production adoption. This includes evaluation, demos, and meeting customers' long-term needs with roadmap planning.
  • Proactively work with the applications team to develop new techniques and approaches in addressing solutions
  • Regularly visit regional and/or international application teams, key stakeholders, and customers worldwide.
Requirements

  

• Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Material Science, Optics Physics, or Computer Science. Experience in core industries will be considered. 

• Master’s or Advanced Degree preferred. 

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in semiconductor production equipment development, product and customer solutions, customer engagement, program and project management, and product roadmap steering.

• Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong self-motivation and initiative.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Development of applications with the use of high-level languages (C+, C#, .Net, MetLab, HDL, LISP, Rust, Python).

• Familiarity with semiconductor standards (Semiconductor Industry Standards Program), generally used communications protocols (SECS\GEM), SQL Databases, and statistical process control (SPC). 

• Strong desire to learn and grow, both technically and personally.

• Ability to travel internationally as needed, solo or with a team.

• Flexibility to take on challenging technical problems that can fall outside your areas of expertise.

• Comfortable interfacing directly with customers.

  

Physical and/or Environmental Requirements: 

· Ability to sit for extended periods of time in an office setting and use standard computer equipment (office phones, keyboards, printers, etc.)

· Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds unassisted, occasionally, when setting up trade shows.

· Be prepared for up to 25% travel, which may involve sitting for extended periods during transportation, and navigating throughout travel locations.
