Volunteer and Community Liaison

Location: Pikeville, KY (serves Floyd, Pike and Magoffin counties)

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm, with occasional evenings & weekends as needed. *May be required to work in office upon hire during the introductory period.

About the role: 

The Volunteer and Community Liaison is responsible for the overall strategic plan for volunteer program development, engagement, and implementation at the Regional Office or department level, including recruitment, screening, training, onboarding, placing, supervising, supporting, and recognizing volunteers.  The Liaison will work closely with the physicians, nurses, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members to identify patient and caregiver needs.  The Liaison will collaborate with the patients, families, volunteers, staff, and community to ensure the needs are met and excellent patient/caregiver support is delivered. The Liaison will be responsible for maintaining compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation for volunteer services as well as compliance with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. Additionally, they will collaborate with the community engagement team to develop and maintain community outreach goals, build and maintain key relationships with community partners and foster a network of local support to help meet operational and clinical needs.   

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or a Healthcare-related field; or equivalent experience in volunteer engagement/management/program development, public relations, and/or community outreach initiative.
  • Certification in Volunteer Administration is desired. 
  • Experience with project management from initial concept development to project completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Exceptional time management skills. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in public speaking. 
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in confidential matters.
  • Must have excellent listening skills and the ability to identify needs, issues, or concerns.
  • Dynamic personality that relates well to all personality types. 
  • Ability to manage, direct, motivate and support persons who are directly involved in the care of patients and caregivers.
  • Ability to utilize metrics to develop and improve programs and performance.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency with common computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to carry out various educational opportunities as listed yet not limited to initial onboarding orientation, annual education days, in-services, and recognition events.  
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order, that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements, with personal auto liability insurance of $100,000/$300,000 in bodily injury coverage.
  • Team members will be expected to comply with Bluegrass Care Navigators (BCN) Employee Health, infectious disease, and vaccination policies. 
Salary Description
$49,523-$61,079 per year
