Overview: The Pre-K Counts Early Childhood Assistant Teacher will collaborate with the Lead teacher and assist in creating weekly plans, implementing lessons and maintain the quality of the JCC’s Early Childhood Program, provide excellent care and education for children and build strong collaborations with families
General Responsibilities:
· Assist the Lead Teacher in classroom duties and responsibilities.
· Provide a nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.
· Meet NAEYC and Keystone STARS* standards.
· Adhere to the standards outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook for:
o Following DHS regulations
o Communicating with families
o Care of facility and equipment
o Record keeping
o Curriculum
o Health and safety procedures
o Teamwork, including regular attendance of staff meetings
· Other duties as needed or assigned.
*Time used to support the JCC in meeting Keystone STARS quality standards is funded by Keystone STARS. If the JCC should lose this funding, then time used in meeting these standards would be used to complete other assigned duties as listed in this description, or hours would be reduced directly proportionate to time used to meet these standards as a floater.
Performance Expectations:
· Understand/possess an openness to Jewish religion and traditions
· Attend all meetings and events that support the department’s main objectives and responsibilities
· Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public
· Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC. Model the Core Values while working and communicating with members and staff
Skills and Qualifications:
· Minimum of CDA in preschool or Associates Degree in Early Education or related field.
· Two or more years of experience. Experience in PreK counts room is preferred but not required.
