Description

Position Overview:

Theater Technical  Manager has the daily responsibility for the technical operations of the GM Theatre, Wright Community Room, and other event spaces at The Wright, including audio, lighting, effects, set building, and supervision of the theatre space and scene shop. 


Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with directors, production designers, and clients to provide quality audio, lighting, and other effects needed during performances.
  • Manage and coordinate equipment load-in, setup, and teardown, including lighting, audio, and video for special events held at the Museum.
  • Provide first-line maintenance support for all relevant technical equipment, tools, machines, furniture, fixtures, and fittings related to the performance space.
  • Maintain an inventory of all technical equipment and ensure equipment is stored safely.
  • Attend production meetings and regular technical department meetings as required.
  • Supervise the use of the stage facilities and Museum theatrical equipment and when being operated by clients or outside contractors.
  • In collaboration with the Technical Director, Identify key staff and students and provide training on equipment and processes as required. Ensures crew has adequate knowledge of productions, theatre use, and equipment for all events.
  • Ensure the public areas of the theatre and/or production space are in a safe and presentable condition.
Requirements

  

Qualifications:

  •  Minimum 3+ years’ experience in technical theater or related field 
  • BA/BFA in Technical Theater (preferred) 
  • Knowledge of digital sound consoles, intelligent lighting fixtures, and video technology. 
  • Knowledge of common theatre safety policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Conditions:

  • Position will require flexible hours. Full-time position - occasional nights and weekends. 
  • Will occasionally be asked to work at heights or in low-visibility environments.
  • Will need to occasionally lift and carry items up to 75 lbs. and may experience discomfort from bending, twisting, climbing, crawling, pushing, kneeling, stooping, and reaching overhead; may occasionally be exposed to humidity and temperature outside normal ranges; may be exposed to dust, and electrical hazards from construction of stage sets and working with high voltage; stand and walk 75% of the time; may occasionally need to use special tools 
Salary Description
$60k-65k annually
