Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is a skilled position in the Properties & Risk Management Department with duties including maintenance, service, and repairs. The Maintenance Technician will be required to perform a wide range of internal and external maintenance, service, and repair functions on Tier I and Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools properties, facilities, and vehicles. This full-time 40 hr./week staff member will work with the Properties Coordinator and Facilities Manager on projects as directed by the Director, Properties & Risk Management.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the Facilities Manager to receive, assess, prioritize, and complete assigned work orders for Tier 1 and MACS School properties.
  • Perform routine building repairs and maintenance.
  • Routinely inspect building systems such as the building envelope, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems and repair/replace as required to prevent future maintenance issues.
  • Carpentry - install, frame, repair, patch, and paint walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Minor Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Repair damaged and/or assemble new chairs, desks, tables, etc.
  • Move office furniture, tables, chairs, equipment, etc.
  • Arrange furniture for meetings and conferences.
  • Perform material / equipment pick-up and delivery.
  • Clean, remove trash, and assist in the general care of the facilities.
  • Lock and unlock doors as directed.
  • Assist in the required care, inspection, and maintenance of Diocesan vehicles and equipment as directed.
  • Be an approved diocesan driver and operate a delivery vehicle, ensuring vehicle is operated and maintained in a safe manner in accordance with diocesan policies.
  • Receive and return phone calls as needed, participate in occasional client / staff meetings, staff training, and development activities.
  • Perform other duties as determined and directed by the Director, Properties & Risk Management, Properties Coordinator, and Facilities Manager.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and perform other related functions or tasks as directed by the Director, Properties & Risk Management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent work experience
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
