About the Position: The Engineer, Water & Energy Services is responsible for the onsite service of a diverse range of water treatment programs provided by Global Water Technology at various client locations. These programs include, but are not limited to, steam boilers, cooling towers, hot and chilled closed loop systems, wastewater treatment, potable water treatment, related filtration and pre-treatment equipment, and chemical feed systems. Engineer, Water & Energy Services is an entry level position however a degree in a related engineering field is required. Candidates for the position of Engineer, Water & Energy Services should have a strong propensity to want to excel in a very competitive industry, within a fast-growing company, where customer retention and a desire to grow both personally and professionally is a keen desire. It is expected that this position will lead to a role within Global Water Technology, Inc that deals directly with the application, design and implementation of the water treatment programs provided.
Summary of Duties:
· Manage water treatment programs at established client sites through regular program audits which include obtaining and testing water samples using field laboratory equipment.
· Resolve program non-conformances by troubleshooting problems and implementing corrective measures which may include equipment repairs or chemical dosage adjustments.
· Generate professionally written technical reports which advise on industry best practices for operating mechanical equipment with a focus on extended equipment life as well as water and energy savings. This often involves identifying, recommending, and implementing program upgrades.
· Conduct customer meetings to communicate program results in a manner that builds rapport and promotes customer care of their mechanical systems.
· Work with a mentor/manager to identify, scope, and sell identified technical solutions within existing or new client base while documenting and following up on the progress with managers and clients.
Qualifications:
· A demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a desire to work in a hands-on environment.
· Previous experience working with customers (in a related or unrelated industry) with a strong focus on providing an exceptional customer experience.
· Previous work experience in the water industry is considered an asset.
· Post-secondary education in Science or Engineering is considered an asset. Typical areas of focus for successful candidates: chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental science, sustainability studies.
· Proficient in computer use with a solid understanding of MS Office applications.
· Display a high level of interpersonal skills.
· Valid Driver's license.
· Ability to pass drug test/screening.
· Ability to pass background check.
Typical Experience: 0 to 5 Years in water treatment or in a field of related work.
Working Conditions: The Engineer is a field-based position. Most of the workload is performed within client facilities. This includes, but is not limited to steam boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, industrial production facilities, and health care facilities. The work is performed at an assigned client list with varied contact types, which may include some challenging client contacts.
The Engineer position will occasionally be expected to be available outside of standard business hours to support client satisfaction via phone, email, or even on-site.
The Engineer position involves substantial driving requirements to and from client sites. Some overnight travel may be required from time to time. The amount of overnight travel will vary based on geography covered and maturity of the local market.
Physical Requirements: This position can be physically demanding. This includes the requirement to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects on a regular basis. The Engineer is required to move around industrial environments, carrying a portable test kit, computer, and other tools. The Technician will need to be able to carry products (e.g. chemical pails, softener salt) of up to 50 lbs.
Physical Requirements: This position can be physically demanding. This includes the requirement to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects on a regular basis. The Analyst is required to move around industrial environments, carrying a portable test kit, computer, and other tools. The Technician will need to be able to carry products (e.g. chemical pails, softener salt) of up to 50 lbs.
