Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated NYC HRA Enrollment Benefit Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on helping community members access and navigate benefit programs. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, compassionate professional who can travel throughout the five boroughs and conduct assessments, facilitate enrollment processes, and schedule follow-up appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Benefit Enrollment & Assessment: Conduct in-person assessments for clients to identify eligibility for HRA benefits and other relevant support services.
- Application Assistance: Guide clients through the application process for NYC benefits, ensuring all required documentation is completed and submitted accurately and promptly.
- Appointment Scheduling & Follow-Up: Schedule appointments for follow-up consultations and assist clients with any next steps related to their benefit applications.
- Resource Connection: Work closely with other YAMA programs to connect clients with additional resources, such as ESL classes, immigration legal services, and case management.
- Client Advocacy: Act as an advocate for clients, ensuring their needs are effectively communicated and addressed by relevant social service agencies.
- Data Entry & Documentation: Maintain accurate client records in our database, track enrollment statuses, and document any follow-up actions.
- Technology Proficiency: Utilize various digital tools, including the Google platform (Google Sheets, Google Docs), Microsoft Word and Excel, and Salesforce, to manage client information, track enrollment processes, and communicate effectively with team members.
- Virtual Collaboration: Confidently use Zoom for client meetings, training sessions, and team collaboration, ensuring seamless interaction and engagement in a virtual setting.

Qualifications:
- Education: Associate or College degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a community-based, social services, or nonprofit organization is preferred. Previous experience with benefit enrollment, case management, or advocacy work is an asset.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an empathetic approach to client interaction.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using Google Sheets, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, Salesforce, and Zoom.
- Language Proficiency: Bilingual abilities in Arabic and/or Spanish are a plus, as they allow for better communication with YAMA’s diverse client base.
- Mobility & Accessibility: Must be comfortable with on-site work in the Bronx, with the ability to travel between client locations and support clients with accessibility needs.
