The Winterim Guest Instructor seeks to nurture growth in high school students through relationships, excellence, and service to the glory of God. He or she accomplishes this by instructing a two-week, hands-on specialized course which allows students to explore new topics, engage in their passions, and / or earn practical skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create structured lesson plans for a 3-hour morning or afternoon Winterim course.
- Deliver in-person instruction at Wheaton Academy during each day of the two-week Winterim session.
- Naturally and regularly integrate biblical principles into the subject.
- Model the attributes of a Living Curriculum Teacher
- Display solid content knowledge - be a content expert.
- Apply strategies to show how the content is relevant.
- Involve students in engaging discussions and stimulating hands-on activities.
- Support students needing additional help to promote student success.
- Implement classroom procedures that ensure student safety.
- Establish clear standards of conduct in the classroom in alignment with Wheaton Academy's student culture and behavior expectations.
- Respond to student misbehavior with positive consistent results.
- Respects, works well, cooperates & collaborates with colleagues, staff, and administration.
- Attends required Winterim Instructor trainings.

The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited, four-year college. The individual should be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and enjoy a challenge. Working with a minimal amount of supervision, within general guidelines, is typical of the individual’s work. The ability to proactively solve programs, work effectively with variety of students, and handle confidential information appropriately are pre-requisites.
