JOB SUMMARY: The Planning Manager will be expected to possess a top-level understanding of planner activities for projects maintained by others within the department, the financial impact of current and future projects, as well as identifying risks and opportunities within the revenue forecast. Oversee and guide the department planners and the activities which include scheduling, production/inventory planning, and material demand to meet customer and program delivery requirements.
Experience in manufacturing job shop environment with high mix, low volume parts. In one year, work with 150-200 complex part numbers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain consistent leadership for the Planning Department and act as focal point for all Planners. Master Planner experience required, managing experience required.
2. Responsible for workload distribution, assignment, and balancing within the Planning Department
3. Oversee the use and optimization of the D365 MRP system to determine hardware needs and supplier delivery schedules.
4. Lead the Planning organization in the transition to D365 / PowerBI reports for all planning activities to achieve significant year over year revenue growth. Utilize tools such as capacity planning to identify bottlenecks and adjust production plans as necessary to meet OTD objectives.
5. Drive implementation and adherence to departmental metrics.
6. Identify Risks and Opportunities in CED revenue forecasts.
7. Oversee project plans for each job and is responsible for the communication between departments to facilitate that plan.
8. Monitors incoming hardware and plans production capacity to coincide with hardware availability.
9. Interface closely with Production and Contracts to facilitate workflow, shop floor loading, and product delivery.
10. Support job review meetings with Operations, Contracts, Engineering, Quality, and Materials to assure that all aspects and details of jobs are accounted for in the scheduling and outside process coordination activity.
11. Coordinate project status review meetings for ongoing projects also taking action items and ensuring they are properly addressed and closed out.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Shall be proficient with Microsoft Project or be able to quickly accelerate learning to build project plans in MS Project from scratch.
2. Bachelor Degree preferred. Three years minimum Master Scheduling experience. APICS certification is considered a plus.
3. Expert in Excel. Must be able to manipulate data for project forecasting.
4. Must be eligible to possess explosive by passing a drug screen, background check and prove you are a US person under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices.
