Industrial Safety Coordinator
Description

 This role is responsible for but not limited to planning, designing and validating manufacturing processes and Continuous Improvement initiatives, according to established engineering specifications. This role is also responsible for conducting safety training and hazardous materials reporting in compliance with OSHA regulations.


Main Responsibilities:

· Support and coordinate the lean-oriented Continuous Improvement Program at Steinway. This includes leading workshops, initiating and implementing methods changes and process improvements to reduce cycle times and cost while maintaining/improving quality. 

· Work with factory supervisors to keep production flowing and troubleshooting problems in the factory.

· Develop time standards and make recommendations for process improvement. Support the implementation of the standard cost for fabricated items in the factory. 

· Develop and maintain workstations and plant layouts.

· Support current Manufacturing system (MRP) by updating process routings and material usages. Create manufacturing reports to monitor the factory activities.

· Develop and maintain operation descriptions, job descriptions and procedure manuals. Maintain and improve documentation for new and existing methods and procedures. 

· Lead safety training for all employees and drive OSHA compliance activities

· Oversee the facility incident investigation process to ensure incidents are reported in a timely manner, investigations are conducted properly, root causes are identified, and corrective actions are tracked to closure.

· Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.

· Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.

· Lead hazardous material reporting and compliance efforts

· Due to changing requirements, the duties and responsibilities of the position may change over time. 

Requirements

· BS degree in Industrial Engineering required and 1-3 years of equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably in the piano industry.

· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 

· Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

· Ability to multi-task.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Critical thinking skills and strong initiative to suggest and implement manufacturing changes/improvements. 

· Must have experience on technical writing.

· Must have experience in generating flow diagrams, developing operation descriptions and developing procedures.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, Visio, Jet Reports and Visual Basic.

· Must have working knowledge of Auto CAD.

Salary Description
$70,000 - $80,000
