JOB OVERVIEW:
The human resource manager performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, affirmative action and employment equity program, benefits management, and payroll support. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The manager must be sensitive to organizational needs, employee goodwill and the business needs, and at the same time be able to manage details in a fast paced environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keep in mind that the safety of members and staff is always our highest priority. Communicates to management, in a timely way, any concerns regarding the safety in the Club.
2. Manages all employee and applicant documentation and records as dictated by governing agencies.
3. Manages and tracks employee disciplinary action.
4. Coaches, counsels, and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
5. Maintains and processes all Unemployment Claims in a timely, efficient manner.
6. Performs staffing tasks as needed (reviews applications, interviews, onboarding).
7. Maintains, updates, and distributes the employee phone list.
8. Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9/E-Verify Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
9. Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done on time.
10. Reports, maintains, and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
11. Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollments, cancellations or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process.
12. Maintains a list of new and cancelled employees under each benefit plan. Verifies benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment.
13. Administers COBRA for group health plans.
14. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
15. Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
16. Runs background checks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
2. At least three years of human resource generalist experience.
3. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
4. Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5. At least 21 years of age.
6. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
7. A valid Indiana driver's license and able to drive an automobile.
8. Pass a criminal records background check and a 10-panel drug screen.
