How GoMacro’s history shapes who we are today?
During her 2003 battle with cancer, co-founder Amelia Kirchoff created the first MacroBar® recipe in her kitchen on the Wisconsin family farm. Job Summary:
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying and evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the company’s procurement needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively. This role plays a key part in developing and implementing sourcing strategies that align with the organization’s goals, while ensuring quality, timely delivery, and competitive pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Identification and Evaluation:
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, reliability, and adherence to timelines.
- Qualify new suppliers through a comprehensive vetting process, including audits and reference checks.
Contract Negotiation:
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, lead times, and quality standards.
- Ensure contracts meet legal and company standards while achieving cost savings and value.
- Manage contract renewals and updates, ensuring alignment with company needs and industry trends.
Sourcing Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that align with business objectives and optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
- Analyze market trends, supply chain risks, and opportunities to adjust sourcing strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, finance, quality assurance, regulatory and innovations) to align sourcing efforts with company goals.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure continuous improvement in service and performance.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and suppliers, resolving issues related to pricing, delivery, and quality.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and develop improvement plans where necessary.
Cost Management and Efficiency:
- Identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality or service.
- Monitor and track sourcing budgets, ensuring compliance with financial targets.
- Leverage competitive bidding and other strategic sourcing techniques to optimize costs.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., environmental, social responsibility, and legal requirements).
- Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including potential disruptions and supplier capacity issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of sourcing activities, supplier contracts, and performance evaluations.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on supplier performance, cost savings, and sourcing activity.
- Use data analytics to drive insights into supplier performance and market trends.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements and sourcing strategy adjustments.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent year of experience in a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a similar industry.
- Experience in contract negotiation and supplier management.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in sourcing and procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using TraceGains is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Travel expectations:
- This role will require the ability to travel as needed for key business meetings, trade shows, and supplier visits.
