The Grounds Technician is a champion of top-notch customer service for our community grounds, as well as the front line in customer care by exceeding expectations in a positive and professional manner.
Gillespie Group requires a background and drug screen as a condition of employment and passing of required physical testing. A valid driving license, vehicle, and current automobile insurance are required. The position requires individuals to furnish their own vehicle to fulfill all the job’s functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES & PROJECTS
- Daily trash pick up, or repeatedly as needed; especially the day of mowing and trash removal
- Clean up of curbs and sidewalks
- Sweep parking lots
- Clean out carports
- Complete basic service tasks
- Complete duties associated with apartment preparation for new tenants (such as painting)
- Spray weeds in parking lots, carports and sidewalks
- Pulling weeds as well as dead head and water flowers
- Bed clean up in both the spring and fall
- Trim shrubs, as needed
- Lay mulch around the property
- Dumpster corral repairs, clean-up of area
- Remove pet waste, if needed
- Maintain rain gardens and/or flower pots
- Light checks on both property interior and exterior
- Coordinate daily activities with service supervisor
- Routinely wipe down commonly touched surfaces (door handles, elevator buttons, etc)
- Deep clean hallways, such as fixtures, fans, etc., at least bi-annually or annually as needed
- Clean dryer vents
- Door painting, touch up trim, touch up post, etc.
- Salting and snow removal on sidewalks and ADA parking
- Minor exterior repairs, downspouts are clear and working, splash guards are in place and in good shape, lower siding repairs, etc.
- Report missing shingles, facia, edging, etc. to service supervisor
- Report any areas where irrigation may not be working properly to service supervisor
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, general education degree, or related Vocational Training and/or equivalent work experience
- Basic knowledge of apartment building systems and maintenance preferred
- Ability to receive and follow detailed instructions and ensure detailed instructions are followed
- General basic knowledge of plumbing, appliances, mechanical, electrical, drywall repair, HVAC systems, and carpentry experience is preferred.
