Inspired Solutions is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Madigan Army Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role involves assuming charge nurse responsibilities, providing critical care tasks and leadership, performing comprehensive age-specific nursing care, and overseeing complex medical cases. The responsibilities encompass documentation, patient advocacy, medication administration, hemodynamic monitoring, and communication with healthcare teams. The nurse also manages infection-prone procedures, collaborates with LPNs, ensures quality care, and responds adeptly to emergencies while adhering to the job description's parameters.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Provide charge nurse responsibilities, team leadership, and orientation for nurses while ensuring tasks within their scope of practice
- Perform critical care tasks, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-specific nursing care
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of body systems and their interrelationships for health maintenance and restoration
- Deliver labor-intensive care to diverse patients with complex medical and surgical conditions
- Document clinical information according to protocols, observe and record symptoms, assist physicians, administer medication and treatments, and manage admissions and discharges
- Monitor and interpret data collected by LVNs and unlicensed personnel, acting as a patient advocate and educator
- Manage hemodynamic monitoring, vasopressor titration, and procedures involving infection-prone equipment
- Communicate pertinent information to charge nurses and physicians
- Verify physician order transcriptions and create/manage nursing care plans
- Administer medications following nursing practice scope, including IV, oral, and other routes
- Assess patients for crises, initiate life-saving measures, and operate emergency equipment
- Oversee tissue/skin and organ donor banks, perform invasive procedures within scope, and provide direct patient care
- Provide professional oversight for LPNs and collaborate with healthcare providers for patient care planning
- Ensure infection control protocols, handle quality assurance/risk management, and participate in research projects
- Attend nursing reports, conferences, discharge planning, and maintain positive relationships with patients and families
- React effectively in emergency situations, demonstrate pharmacological knowledge, and operate emergency equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned and in accordance with this PWS
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Flexible schedule required. (12-hour shifts) Monday thru Sunday to include weekends and holidays. (The health care workers shall record the time worked and report time in accordance with MTF policy.)
- Federal holidays are considered workdays. Not included in, or billable as work hours are: lunch/ break periods; vacation/sick leave (80 hours); and continuing medical education (CME) training attendance (up to 40 hours per year per FTE)
- All leave/ absences during normal work hours will be coordinated with and approved by the MTF Activity/Department head/ supervisor.

- Current, full, active, and unrestrictive license to practice as a Registered Nurse is required
- 2+ year experience working in the ICU as a Registered Nurse required
- Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree program from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) is required
- Current CPR certification (American Heart Association) required
- Current BLS certification (American Red Cross) required
- Current ALS certification (American Red Cross) required
