Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Automated Solutions, the Senior Solutions Engineer will be responsible for the design of automated systems and presenting that design to the Customer. This position will assist Customers in meeting their business goals through automation solution design. Solutions are developed utilizing data analysis, material handling system design, simulation, site visits and customer direction. This role allows you to work with some of the latest technologies in the ever-changing material handling field including robotics, mobile robotics, autonomous vehicles, AGV’s, and more with a goal of strengthening customer relationships & providing additional revenue opportunities to the company.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead automated material handling system design activities that develop a solution that clearly supports Customer’s objectives
- Establish credibility with Customers though clearly communicating the process and alternatives considered that led to the proposed solution
- Develop and oversee the development of proposal documents that clearly communicates the benefits of the proposed solution.
- Develop system material flow diagrams and utilize the latest system design techniques
- Utilize AutoCAD to clearly communicate concepts
- Ensure that concept costing accurately reflects proposal documents and drawings
- Identify and utilize the necessary information/data critical to design
- Proactively ensure that automated solutions consider that latest methods and products within the industry to provide our Customers a competitive advantage
- Collaborate with the sales team members & Customers to evaluate the Customer needs and develop the best solution to the Customer
- Facilitate internal brainstorming discussions
- Participate in internal projects as required
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Strong technical aptitude – highly knowledgeable of industry systems including complex integrated systems and components
- Skilled in using evaluation techniques to ensure solutions provide that best total overall value
- Highly detail oriented, ability to manage to critical deadlines
- Ability to multitask effectively & prioritize & execute tasks
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
- Ability to understand and create operational flow and requirements
- Technically competent and proficient with various software programs: Excel, Word, Outlook, AutoCAD, SmartSheet
- Strong written and oral communication skills: In person meetings, email, phone calls
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
- BS in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 7-15 years’ experience designing automated warehouse solutions
