Description

Alaska Northstar Federal is currently seeking a qualified Data Architect III to join our team for a long-term, fulfilling, fully remote opportunity supporting a DoD program with the US Air Force.   


The Data Architect III will support the migration of teams to Jira and Confluence from legacy systems, ensuring a seamless transition of data and processes. The Data Architect III role involves extensive experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket) and expertise in data mapping to support integration with PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will provide data architecture solutions, perform data mapping, and facilitate the migration process, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.


The Data Architect III will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Lead data migration efforts from legacy systems to Jira and Confluence, ensuring minimal disruption and data integrity.
  • Develop and execute migration plans, including timelines, data mapping strategies, and testing phases.
  • Perform data mapping from current database structures to fit the PostgreSQL environment used by Jira and Confluence.
  • Ensure data transformation processes meet the technical and functional requirements for integration with the Atlassian suite.
  • Configure Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to align with organizational workflows and data requirements post-migration.
  • Collaborate with system administrators to manage database and configuration changes within the Atlassian tools.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand legacy data structures and mapping requirements for a successful migration.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams transitioning to Jira and Confluence, ensuring that data and workflows are accurately represented.
  • Establish quality assurance procedures to validate the accuracy and completeness of migrated data.
  • Perform post-migration testing to confirm data integrity and functionality within the PostgreSQL environment.
  • Document data mapping processes, migration steps, and transformation rules for future reference and auditing purposes.
  • Create and share best practices for data migration and system configuration to streamline future migrations.
Requirements

Candidate must be US Citizen

Candidate must have an active DoD Secret Clearance at minimum

Candidate must have active CompTIA Security+ CE or other applicable active 8570 IAT Level II Certification

Candidate must have 10+ years' experience with the following:

  • Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket, with experience in configuring these tools to meet organizational needs.
  • Data mapping and migration, especially between different database structures and PostgreSQL.
  • PostgreSQL and relational database principles.
  • Identifying challenges within legacy data structures and create effective mapping solutions.
  • Setting up and managing software and services in a DoD context.
  • Secure enclave architecture and deployment.   
  • Infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).   
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, including senior leadership, technical teams, and governance      bodies. 
  • Documenting and communicating technical and governance outcomes clearly and concisely. 
  • Team collaboration skills; working across departments and with Capability Delivery Teams (CDTs).  

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Familiarity with data migration tools and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and how they apply to Atlassian tools.

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

$130,000 - $155,000
