We're on the lookout for a passionate Group Teacher for our Before and After School Program for the 2024-25 school year at Park Elementary School in Columbia, PA.
JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
PAY: $16.00 per hour
JOB CONSISTS OF:
- Developing weekly plans and implementing age-appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.
- Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
- On an ongoing basis, plan, evaluate, and improve the physical environment in each program to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child.
- Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily routines and plans, for the interests and needs of the individual child and the group.
- Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child's background by incorporating cultural, linguistic, and familial values and beliefs into the childcare program and lesson plans.
- Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/ caregivers.
- Provide a classroom environment that encourages parent participation.
- Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships and experience clear communication with teaching staff.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client and agency records, including daily meal and attendance records.
- Maintains up-to-date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profiles, and other records as needed.
- Completes daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children.
- Assures a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
- Assist with the supervision of staff and volunteers at assigned site.
- Ensures that the Childcare Assistant is kept updated on all matters concerning the classroom and program, i.e. Team Meetings, lesson plans, policies & procedures, and training received.
- Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to Director in a timely manner.
- Participate in ongoing in-service and educational development opportunities provided by the Agency.
- Participate in ongoing development and evaluation of the center's goals and objectives.
- In accordance with our "team" philosophy, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed in this job description

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.

An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
