Description

Nachawati Law Group (www.ntrial.com) is in search of a Controller in Dallas, TX, to perform a variety of general accounting functions focusing on bookkeeping. The Controller reports to the CFO, partners with the Treasurer, and is supported by overseas accounting clerks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, proactive, positive, and seeking a challenging role.


Responsibilities of our Controller

  • Oversee general accounting functions, including:
    • Applying general principles of accounting, 
    • Reviewing all journal entries, 
    • Managing monthly closes, 
    • Updating the general ledger, and 
    • Addressing tax matters.
  • Partner with our Treasurer, who focuses on collecting accounts receivable, paying vendors, and managing bank accounts, to make sure that bookkeeping and cash are continuously coordinated and reconciled.
  • Manage overseas accounting clerks for data entry and validation, fostering professional development and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee all aspects of the client-related IOLTA Trust accounts and provide reporting to specific clients periodically.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and policies to mitigate risks and enhance the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, providing financial insights to support business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Experience Required for our Controller

  • A four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required. CPA required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role, with law firm experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems; experience with Sage Intacct required, including synchronizing with other applications using APIs. Strong experience with Microsoft Excel required.
  • Strong understanding of legal billing, trust accounting, and law firm financial operations.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience supervising and managing an overseas accounting team, including delegating responsibilities, providing training, and requiring accountability.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
