Hands Across The Water is a licensed, non-profit child placing agency.


We are looking for a great leader to provide supervision to a team of our agency's foster care case managers, providing inclusive, strengths-based services for children and families in the child welfare system. The chosen candidate will provide leadership, training and mentorship to a team of both experienced and beginning foster care specialists. The Child Welfare Supervisor- Foster Care ensures that needed and appropriate services are provided as required by state of Michigan laws, contractual and licensing requirements and applicable service standards through the provision of high-quality direct services.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

The Child Welfare Supervisor must hold a master's degree from an accredited college or university in a human behavioral science and 3 years of experience as a social service worker in an agency OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human behavioral science and 4 years of experience as a social service worker, 3 years of which are in an agency performing child welfare functions.


Appropriate candidate for this position must have the ability to handle stress well, have the ability to be an active listener with good clinical observation and assessment skills, be flexible and able to handle change, be a team player yet able to work independently, able to multi-task, and maintain case responsibility and follow-through. Appropriate candidate must be able to supervise a staff of up to 5 workers as well as act as their mentor and positive role model. The Child Welfare Supervisor must demonstrate strong leadership skills, the ability to mediate conflict, and simultaneously advocate and problem-solve with their staff, program, and agency priorities in mind. Appropriate candidate must have the ability, experience, education, and training to perform the duties assigned. Appropriate candidate must be able to understand and follow the agency’s Vision and Mission statements, including its commitment to inclusion and diversity.
