The Grants Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and technical work with primary responsibilities being to assist in all aspects of grant management including proposal preparation and processing. Supports the acquisition of funding primarily through foundation and corporate grants by building relationships, exploring sources, evaluating potential opportunities, engaging appropriate contacts, and assisting in writing compelling proposals. 

The Grants Specialist is up to 20-hours part-time position that is wrapped up in a Christian environment that values Teamwork, Accountability, Humility, Innovation, and Joy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Familiarity and understanding of the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization to support annual operating and multi-year revenue targets. 
  2. Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  3. Works in cooperation with other CityTeam development officers, executive, directors, staff, and volunteers to identifying, apply, and securing grants that can fund program operations or capital projects.
  4. Collaborates with Development Team on family foundations, corporations, community groups, and other possible granting entities. 
  5. Drafts grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  6. Submits proposals to foundations/granting organizations for approval. Responds to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  7. Maintains records and submit reports related to grant opportunities. Tracks solicited/pending/closed status of grants and proposals, progress reports for funding grantors, grants, and proposals to be submitted, prospective foundations and documents all activity and correspondence within grant tracking software (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge).
  8. Cultivates relationships with new and existing Foundations and/or other organizations with which CityTeam has an alliance with respect to donor future gift giving. 
  9. Builds and maintains networks of key professionals (i.e., attorneys, financial planners, foundation executives, accountants, etc.)
  10. Ad Hoc Legal Work – such as drafting leases, rental agreements, research on issues.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Marketing and Development or President/CEO.
Requirements

Required Education and Experience

? 4-year degree

? 5-year minimum experience with strategic partnerships and volunteer and donor development

? Previous experience in a non-profit or grant making organization preferred, experience successfully applying for and administering grant funds is preferred

? Computer literate: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook and Google Suite

? Professional written and spoken communication skills

? Expert in presenting to and engaging with small and large groups of people

? Valid CA Driver’s License with a clean record


Preferred Education and Experience

? Experience with non-profit strategic partnership development

? Familiarity with CityTeam, addiction, and homelessness 

? Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge

Work Conditions

? This job typically operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines

? This role will regularly travel to strategic partnership meetings and meet in a variety of venues, including restaurants, offices, and homes

? Days and hours of work will be typical business hours with occasional weekends

  • Must have an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ 
  • Must be active in a local Christian body of believers or at least pursuing community with other Christ-followers
  • Must have compatible theology on major issues of CityTeam's Statement of Faith
  • Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ
