Job Summary
The Placement Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to potential new member leads and is responsible for successfully meeting recruitment goals for new members by converting prospective members (leads) to retainable registered members. They also provide support for newly recruited volunteers in the application and onboarding process and plays a key role in identifying and improving lead conversion techniques. Additionally, the Placement Specialist works effectively with diverse groups including team members, volunteers, and community partners to ensure clear and efficient communication across all levels of interaction. They also assist in the planning, coordinating, and implementation of year-round recruitment and retention strategies.
The Placement Specialist also prioritizes diversity equity, inclusion, belonging, and access to ensure delivery of the best quality Girl Scout leadership experience for girls. In collaboration with the Community Engagement Lead the Placement Specialist will consistently exercise discretion and judgement with respect to matters of significance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to convert new leads into members within the department-set conversion window while addressing and anticipating customer needs during the lead conversion process.
- Develops new and innovative ways to improve the lead conversion process, both efficiently and effectively.
- Reaches out to prospective members in a timely manner via phone, email and text and successfully converts them to members by clearly describing the Girl Scout Commitment to Girls, including the Girl Scouts Leadership Experience, and tells our story on what a girl gains from being a member of Girl Scouts.
- Successfully guides and supports new leaders and volunteers through the onboarding/training process so that they can support and deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in the Girl Scout troop model.
- Processes all leads effectively and responsibly, following department-set best practices for pipeline flow.
- In collaboration with Recruitment, assists in developing year-round recruitment strategies with a focus on an increase in new members through registering adult and girl members.
- Based on market trends, demographics, market share data, etc. collaborates with Recruitment (Girl and Adult) to design and implement a comprehensive plan to achieve or exceed goals for girl and adult membership growth in support of the Council’s strategic business plans and goals.
- Works with Service Unit volunteers to understand the dynamics of their area and develops a two-way working relationship that ensures information is shared in the most effective way for the volunteers and the Council.
- Utilizes all the tools available to manage their work effectively and efficiently, Salesforce, reports, Info-scout, Microsoft Office Suite, telephone, computer, Learning Management System, other applications, etc.
- Enters information into the customer database accurately and timely.
- Responds timely to requests from customers to resolve membership issues, answer questions, and document each contact in the customer database.
- Must be able to works effectively with diverse groups including team members, volunteers, and community partners to ensure clear and efficient communication across all levels of interaction.
- Supports external recruitment efforts by helping with preparing materials for recruitments, attending recruitment activities, following up on leads and referrals, posting recruitment information on social media, etc. as needed.
- Attends webinars, trainings, and meetings to enhance sales skills, stays abreast of new ways to increase membership, upcoming GSUSA support, collaborates with other departments and councils, and stays up to date on Council specific initiatives and information.
- Promotes and assists with council wide programs, activities, public relations, and fund development.
- Works interdepartmentally, especially with Outside Recruitment, Girl and Volunteer Experience, Product Program, and the Community Partnerships teams to ensure Council goals are met.
- Must follow and enforce GSTOP policies, procedures, The Girl Scout Promise, and The Girl Scout Law, and fulfill the Girl Scout Mission; communicate the message of inclusiveness and diversity to current and prospective members.
- Keeps up with trends and changes. Keep informed of federal, state, and local laws governing Texas and Oklahoma.
- Must be professional, respectful, enthusiastic, and polite to members, prospects, volunteers, community partners, coworkers, and others.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Community Engagement Lead.
- This role is a flexible position that will work in the office and has the opportunity to work from home.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS - - Knowledge, skills, and abilities
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.
2. Bilingual in Spanish, preferred but not required.
3. Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
4. Membership in Girl Scouts organization.
5. Must be willing to work with all persons without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation,
age, or disability.
6. Experience in Salesforce is a plus.
7. Proven ability to work with volunteers, community leaders, organizations, and businesses.
8. Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and produce results.
9. Ability to work a flexible schedule including travel, nights, and weekends.
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
11. Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.
12. Have and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license in the state where the employee works/resides, an acceptable driving record,
acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation.
13. Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.
