Operations Supervisor
Description


Sigvaris is currently looking for an Operations Supervisor to join our team. As a leading compression solution provider, we are not just a company that manufactures products.  We are a global team on a mission to help people feel their best.  The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the cutting, sewing, packaging and warehouse operations.  This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     • Demonstrates effective supervision of production, warehouse, shipping and maintenance staff in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.

          o Effectively addresses employee complaints and resolves problems.

          o Ensures all employees have the skills and knowledge to do their jobs, or there is a plan to obtain them.

          o Successfully trains and motivates staff.

          o Ensures staff's ability to operate equipment in a safe and controlled manner.

          o Meets with staff to discuss progress of work and ensures that standards for quality and quantity of work are met.

          o Counsels, records and disciplines as necessary.

          o Employees receive an annual performance review.

     • Maintains inventory of raw materials, semi-finished goods, shipping materials and supplies.

     • Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.

     • Supports the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.

     • Complies with all OSHA and company safety rules.

     • Develops and publishes production and quality reports.

     • Maintains up to date accurate filing as required by ISO standards.

     • Leads the investigation of any discrepancy to the loss of labor and/or materials.

     • Assist with physical inventory counts - Year End & Cycle Counts as instructed in accordance with established procedures and planning schedules.

     • Organizes and communicates with shift goals to all employees and resolves any issues related to the completion of expected goals.

     • Reads work orders or production schedules to determine specifications.

     • Sets up, tests, and adjusts machines according to product specifications, using gauges and hand tools.

     • Monitors machine operations to detect problems such as defective stitching, breaks in thread, or machine malfunctions.

     • Examines completed work pieces for defects and sorts defective pieces according to type of flaws.

     • Ensures PM on equipment is being performed and assists if needed.

     • Coordinates, expedites and routes movement of incoming and outgoing shipments.

     • Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.  Receives and processes all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.

     • Fosters positive morale among staff, by promotion of open communication with all departments, to help create and maintain an innovative and cooperative staff relationship and environment.

          o Interacts with external and internal customers in a manner conducive to continued positive relationships.

          o Displays patience, courtesy and tact; demonstrates flexibility, enthusiasm and willingness to cooperate while working with others or in place of others as necessary.

     • Demonstrates effective communication methods.

          o Operations Manager and/or appropriate management staff are kept informed of developments affecting their functions.

          o Responds quickly to all oral and written communications.

          o Maintains and encourages an open line of communication with both internal and external customers.

          o Checks and responds to voice mail messages in a timely manner.

          o Accurately and legibly presents written data to affected internal/external customer.

     • Follows established company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with SIGVARIS policies, industry standards, ISO standards, and Federal, State and local laws.

     • Follows all work instructions, creates and maintains accurate records to meet all internal and external requirements to support the SIGVARIS Quality System and Quality Policy.

     • Accurately performs any other duties and responsibilities as assigned to ensure an efficient workflow.

Requirements


EDUCATION and WORK EXPERIENCE:

     • An Associate's degree or equivalent in education and work experience.

     • A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in production, shipping and receiving.

     • Experience in maintaining standard product costing systems.

     • Experience in managing High SKU Raw Material Inventories.

     • Experience working with Lean Manufacturing is preferred.


CRITICAL SKILLS:

     • Highly self-motivated; able to work with minimal supervision.

     • Computer skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

     • Strong analytical and organizational skills.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both written and verbal.

     • A team player.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This job involves moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the environment is low to moderate.  Occasionally, exposed to both warm and cold air.

     • Occasionally required to sit, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, bend, lift or climb.

     • Occasionally required to lift over 50 pounds.

     • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; finger dexterity and hand coordination required.

     • The ability to use hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small and large objects is required.

     • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust or focus.
