Summary:
The Staff Accountant role is responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting duties within the organization. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to daily, monthly and annual journal entry posting, analyzing monthly gross profit data to provide information on the driving forces of the results, perform account reconciliations and provision of audit support for annual audits.
This role also demands a detail-oriented person that can effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. Ad hoc requests are not uncommon, and this person also needs to be able to prioritize duties independently.
This role will also be required to use multiple different software systems for both reporting and data entry, but also to pull required data needed to calculate journal entries. Having excellent Microsoft Excel skills will be very useful in this role, as well as being able to use other components of the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Teams and others).
This role is vital to the effective support of the business and function of the department from data entry, through reporting, analysis and audit support functions within the department and broader organization. The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively and efficiently will be the key to ensuring that the proper data is being received and entered, and after analyzing, communicating the pertinent information to management. Communication will also be key when supporting the annual audit as this role will have times when direct communication with the auditors is required.
You’ll spend your days on the following:
- Creating and posting journal entries
- Processing deposits and payments, ensuring timely record-keeping.
- Handling electronic transactions and maintain accurate records
- Maintaining accounts related to sales and use taxes
- Monitoring accounts receivable and notifying management of overdue invoices.
- Evaluating account performance in collaboration with team members across the company.
- Completing account reconciliations
- Managing inquiries related to transactions and providing backup for invoicing.
- Supporting audit by pulling requested support and discussing with auditors when necessary
What you need to be successful in this role:
- Willingness to effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization
- Strong time management skills to effectively complete daily, weekly, monthly tasks
- Ability to work independently and self-determine priority of requests and tasks that need completion
- Strong computer skills to efficiently use the multiple different platforms within Augeo for reporting, accounting or tracking
- Strong organization skills and tenacity to efficiently track activity across multiple entities
- An eye for detail, an enquiring mind and a willingness to try new things to help support our growth journey.
- 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent working experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in D365 and familiarity with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
