Position Summary:
The Aquatics Shuttler is responsible for transporting children from the Early Childhood School (ECS) and Kidstown to the pool. This includes assisting children in changing into and out of a swim suit. Position pays $16.75/hr.
Summer hours for this position are 2:45 PM through 6:10 PM Monday through Thursday and 4:15 PM through 5:00 PM on Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transport children from the Early Childhood School (SCS) and Kidstown as specified in the session shuttle schedule.
- Direct children to change into appropriate attire (either a swim suit before lessons or their clothing after the swim lesson) and if needed assist children with changing.
- Caution participants regarding safe vs. unsafe behaviors; enforce all safety protocols.
- Complete accident reports thoroughly if accidents occur and follow protocol outlined in Staff Manual.
- Substitute for coworkers as needed.
- Perform work on weekdays as needed to meet scheduling needs.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of swim students through positive behavior management and supportive interactions.
- Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
- Attend required staff training and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Experience:
- Experience working with children preferred.
Training and Certifications:
- Current CPR/AED Certification (Adult and Child), or willing to complete course by required deadline(s).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of relevant safety practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff including but not limited to aquatics staff, ECS staff & Kidstown staff.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with colleagues and SJCC guests.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to exercise good judgment.

Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Environmental Conditions: The work is frequently performed around a pool facility, and in the locker room with a moderate noise level. Surfaces are frequently slippery and wet.
