General Information
This recruitment is based on the terms and conditions as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Please note that this is an entry level position, however, depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the most qualified candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level.
Responsibilities
- Performs electrical work, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) of high voltage electrical and other stored energy apparatus;
- Works independently completing more advanced O&M task packages as assigned;
- Supports senior qualified maintenance staff in the execution of scheduled and unplanned maintenance activities;
- Active control of low to high-risk service providers;
- Troubleshoots various electrical problems;
- Works scheduled and unplanned maintenance activities;
- Starts to develop a working knowledge of company policies/practices/methods/operating procedures;
- Participates in a variety of water management and operational support functions; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must possess advanced PC skills;
- Graduation from a recognized/related technical program or equivalent combination of education and experience required;
- Strong preference for candidates possessing a journeyman or master electrician license;
- Must possess advanced print reading and trouble shooting skills;
- Requires roving between all hydro sites;
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license; and
- Position is within an automatic progression stream based on successful completion of prescribed time limits and established written and practical progression tests.
Working conditions
- Must be able to lift/push/pull on a repetitive basis (up to 100lbs);
- Constantly moves throughout job site areas to complete daily tasks;
- Typically bends, stoops and crouches;
- Must be able to see and hear, or have corrected vision, both close and distant;
- Must be able to adjust vision focus and use peripheral vision and depth perception;
- Must be able to distinguish color-coded wires;
- Must be able to work while using ladders, man lifts, or reach booms without fear of heights; and
- This position is a safety sensitive role and requires physical movement daily.
