The Business Service Representative will initiate, maintain, and develop employer relationships with the purpose of placing AJCC clients in jobs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develops employment opportunities primarily through recruitments, career fairs, and working closely with Career Coaches in finding employment for job ready clients.
· Responsible for developing and conducting group format workshops.
· Required to make between 20 to 40 cold calls per week to perspective employers.
· Enter the business service information in our internal and State data base.
· Conducts presentations to various groups/businesses and partner agencies that will support job placement goals.
· Coaches’ participants on interview skills, facilitates job readiness workshops and assists participants in writing targeted resumes when needed.
· Maintains records, business files, and update case notes in the State database.
· Must meet contract goals for job placement, OJT completion, strong business relationships.
· Must meet weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly program goals as set by program management team.
· Must attend any state, city, local, or company training and company meetings.
· Other duties assigned as needed for the efficient operation of the program.
· Must have proven track record in business-to-business sales in a performance driven occupation.
· Must be very comfortable and have the ability to cold call, network and engage new business.
· Demonstrated track-record of collaborating in teams.
· Requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to write clear, concise, professional case notes.
· Requires the ability to understand labor market information and employer requirements.
· Public speaking and presentation experience required.
· Must be highly organized, detail orientated and work within time restraints and deadlines.
· Ability to use good judgment, interview techniques and interpersonal skills.
· Knowledge of WIOA common measures and requirement are a plus.
· Proficient in Microsoft office products including Outlook, Work, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Must be assertive, approachable, friendly and willing to work flexible hours to meet objectives and goals.
· Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with stakeholders in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
· Prior experience with ,dislocated worker and high-risk populations is helpful.
· Skill in facilitating groups, writing resumes and working with diverse population is useful.
· Have fluency in Microsoft Office software and other relevant software. Ideally, a minimum of two years of experience in Workforce Development or career counseling.
· Knowledge of CalJOBSSM system very helpful.
· Must be flexible, reliable, dependable and able to work in TEAM environment.
· BA preferred or 3 or more years of related experience.
· Bilingual in Spanish or other community-based language preferred but not required.
· Work schedule may vary and sometimes require flexible hours, early morning, evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following: stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.
Will work in an office environment, travel to employer and client work sites. May be required to work some evenings and an occasional weekend day.
