Description

  

The Ropes Specialist will create age-appropriate, adaptive programming for high ropes, low ropes, zip line, and initiative games for campers aged 10-17 years old. They are responsible for keeping safety front of mind and adhering to policies and procedures at all times while creating a vibrant atmosphere conducive to creating transformation and fun.


Team Overview:


The Program Team brings the camp experience to life by creating programs, building community and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all camp participants. The team creates accessible and developmentally-appropriate programs and recruits, processes, and supports a large team of volunteers and seasonal staff. In adherence with laws and camp governing bodies; they develop, plan and implement camp emergency procedures and policies.


Responsibilities:  

  • Attend Seasonal Staff Training (May 27, 2025 - June 4, 2025)
  • Attend High Risk Certification & Leadership Training (May 19-22, 2025)
  • Assist in the design of and implement outcomes-driven programming for high & low ropes, zip line, and other program areas
  • Modify and adapt all high and low ropes activities due to inclement weather, medical needs, psychosocial needs, and other variables
  • Enforce all high and low ropes program safety procedures
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are safely stored, inspected, and maintained
  • Collaborate with supervisor and Program Coordinator in the preparation, purchase order, and record-keeping of inventory of supplies in assigned areas
  • Submit weekly high and low ropes plans to supervisor
  • Support, lead, and evaluate ropes volunteers
  • Assist the Cabin Life team with maintaining appropriate supervision of campers, including providing overnight coverage in cabins as needed
Requirements

  

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience 

  • Ability to move across camp grounds and between buildings and activity areas multiple times each day
  • Ability to perform job functions outside during summer months (humidity, heat, rain)
  • Ability to coordinate a multi-faceted program for campers aged 8-17 years with varying physical and developmental abilities
  • Ability to attend high ropes training and successfully complete skills testing
  • Ability to create an outcomes-based curriculum map for assigned program area
  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of all participants
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to live on site
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., utilize full range of motion in neck, and remain standing for extended periods of time during physical exertion
  • Ability to perform job functions while at heights of approximately 30 ft.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications & Experience 

  • Significant high ropes experience with the past 3 years (or ability to attend training prior to camp season)

Salary Description
$3,750 for the summer
