The role of the Quality Technician is to Aid Quality Control Manager and other Quality Technicians in accomplishing goals of Quality department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collect, record, plot and interpret data accumulated through approved quality techniques and procedures.
- Assist Quality Control Manager in developing new systems and techniques applicable to Channellock operations
- Help in the development of quality project studies for improvements of manufacturing.
- Help prepare information to advise engineering and production on specific problems, which relate to their respective areas.
- Contact engineering, concerning specifications.
- Aid in the development of methods for observation, operations and visual standards.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of Quality inspection procedures.
- Reviews and updates ISO department procedures, conducts audits, and recommends areas for improvement.
- Makes continuous analysis of the quality of production and takes effective action to correct deficiencies.
- Inspection and test incoming items as required.
- Perform on-the-job training of quality requirements and inspection techniques to Quality Clerks and SPC operators, along with other Channellock personnel as required.
- Work with supervision to assure that corrective action is taken at departmental levels when necessary.
- Work closely with production department supervisory personnel and engineers. Assist Quality Control Manager and other Quality Technicians to monitor and maintain our quality system. Besides a regular workday, additional work may be assigned by the Quality Control Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Abilities/Skills:
Must possess the ability to work well with others and maintain a high level of cooperation with co-workers and subordinates. Contribute to and maintain a high level of enthusiasm to enhance cooperation and teamwork within the department. Must have knowledge of basic computer programs, excel & word. Must understand how to use basic measuring devices and equipment. Person must enjoy working with numbers and be a well-organized/neat worker. Job requires some basic to moderate blue print reading skills, manufacturing specification and data interpretation. Job requires continuous mental and visual attention to detail, initiative, and judgment.
Education/Experience
- ISO:9001 auditing experience, Lean Six Sigma experience, Gage calibration
- Minimum one-year experience at Channellock
- Problem solving skills
- Interpersonal skills are a must
- Self-motivated individual
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds or less
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Train and oversee 2nd shift Quality Clerks on day-to-day quality operations
- Fill in for Quality Control Manager when needed
