We are seeking motivated full and part time Produce Associate(s) with a focus on merchandising fresh cut fruits and vegetables at a well-respected grocery chain! This role requires excellent knife skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain the visual appeal of displays. While previous experience in grocery or culinary settings is preferred, we are willing to train motivated candidates without prior experience. Candidates must be comfortable with heavy lifting (50-75 lbs) and able to perform tasks that require manual dexterity and attention to cleanliness. The opportunity is to work alongside shared space in the produce department.
Key Responsibilities
· Clean, peel, cut, weigh, package, and label fruits and vegetables according to company recipes and specifications.
· Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards as mandated by the FDA and local health departments.
· Monitor product quality and freshness, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
· Keep display cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
· Complete daily logs related to production, spoilage, temperature, and sanitation.
· Place inventory orders.
· Conduct inventory checks for ordering and restocking purposes.
· Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer needs in a timely manner.
· Maintain a sanitary and organized work environment, adhering to company policies and safety protocols.
· Report any safety hazards or violations promptly.
· Proficient in knife handling and cutting techniques, with the ability to work quickly and safely.
· Basic knowledge of fruits and vegetables, or a willingness to learn.
· Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
· Possesses the ability to communicate information clearly and respectfully to team members, customers, and vendors.
· Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
· Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and food safety.
Preferred Experience
· 2-years minimum experience in kitchen preparation, cooking, Garde manger, or 1-year minimum experience in a grocery store produce department cutting fresh fruits and vegetables.
· Maintain an active Food Handlers Card, as required by CA health regulations.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and carry 50-75 lbs regularly
· Must be able to stand and walk for 6-8 hours per day
· Ability to work in cold environment
· Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, food processors, four wheel carts and baler
· Must wear clean uniforms and PPE, and maintain a neat appearance
Working Conditions
· Must have a reliable means of transportation.
· Availability of working weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
· Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
