Description

We have an exciting opportunity in our communications department for an entry-level data scientist focused on web development and related communications activities.

The expected compensation range for this position is $50,000 to $65,000 yearly payable on a semi-monthly basis. This is a temporary role anticipated to continue through February. There is potential to convert to full-time should work become available.


The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary communications team of graphic designers, copy editors, web developers, video editors, and social media specialists, as well as teams of subject matter experts, to develop websites and internet tools. Additionally, the position will perform 508 compliance remediation and support other technical communications activities, for which training will be provided as necessary. 


The candidate should have high attention to detail as well as experience with HTML and CSS, excellent reading and writing comprehension, a thorough knowledge of English grammar and spelling, and the ability to meet tight deadlines; and should work well in a team environment and be adaptable to change. 


Responsibilities

  • Create and manage website content, drawing from a working understanding and direct experience with HTML (for example, usage of TABLE vs. DIV for content), and working understanding and direct experience with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
  • Perform 508 compliance remediation and screening. 
  • Track changes effectively and maintain accurate versioning records.
  • Conduct a final review of documents.
  • Other technical communications responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, computer science, or related field.
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience with HTML and CSS.
  • Creation and management of website content using WordPress.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Communications, authoring tools, and other office software.
  • Experience within collaborative workflows for web development. 
  • Understanding of basic design styles and layout standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate status to peers and leadership.
  • Self-starter able to work in a highly collaborative team and adapt to an ever-changing environment. 
  • Interpersonal skills and flexibility are essential.

Valued Added Skills

  • Security Clearance
  • Experience with Section 508 compliance remediation and screening.
  • Professional experience or proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Professional experience or proficiency in video editing, learning management, or other online training development skills.

Salary Description
$50,000 to $65,000
