Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of assembled components and aviation refueling equipment with established quality standards and specifications.  This position involves inspecting in-process and completed components and equipment, identifying defects, and collaborating with assembly, fabrication, and welding teams to maintain high-quality processes. The QC Technician works primarily with commercial and military aviation modules/vehicles but will also interact with Engineering and Design teams to ensure BETA quality standards are met for prototypes. Our Quality Control Technicians work in a team environment. Work hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm with overtime required and occasional Saturday. 


Key Responsibilities:

Inspection:

· Conduct thorough visual inspections of components to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards

· Utilize various testing methods for compliance of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

· Communicate quality issues to productions teams and supervisors.  If a pattern of failures exists, help develop plan to eliminate issues

· Conduct inspections of vendor and BETA supplied parts ensuring they meet specified standards and quality requirements. 

· Verify material certifications and documentation for compliance

· Perform inspections on assembled components using appropriate tools and equipment

· Coordinate Test Bay quality activity with Assembly Supervisor/Leads

· Prepare assembled components for shipment. Assist Materials team in loading finished components and verify sound shipping methods. 

· Repair defects found during inspections

· Repair rejected, broken parts and validate after repair

· All other duties as assigned


Documentation:

· Maintain detailed records of inspection findings, including photographs and test results

· Report issues to the leadership group

· Generate comprehensive inspection reports and documentation for each project

· Document nonconformance and assist with development plan to correct

· Create and maintain inspection documentation

· Review and validate documents from Engineering team

· Issue Quality Alerts, SCARs and CAPAs 

· Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and QC Product books


Collaboration:

· Work closely with Materials, Production and Engineering teams and supervisors to address identified issues promptly

· Provide guidance and training on proper techniques and procedures to maintain quality standards

· Work with vendors on discrepancies of purchased and sub-contracted parts including RMA requests and tracking RMAs 


Defect Identification:

· Identify and classify assembly defects, document the nature and extent of each issue

· Collaborate with relevant teams to determine the root cause of defects and implement corrective actions


Equipment Calibration:

· Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results

· Verify the calibration status of equipment before each inspection


Continuous Improvement:

· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and quality control measures

· Provide input for the development and refinement of procedures to optimize quality

· Participate in Root Cause Analysis


Requirements

  

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED 

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Quality role; aviation, automotive or military experience preferred  

· Experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting 

· Proficiency in various inspection techniques and tools, including their designs, and uses such as micrometers, tape measures; helpful to own basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, etc.) 

· Strong attention to detail and proven analytical skills

· Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams

· Knowledge of creation and processing of CAR’s and SCAR’s 

· Knowledge of Microsoft office products – Word, Excel, Outlook

· Enterprise Resource Planning software helpful (Jobscope preferred)


Working Conditions:

The role involves working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment. Bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and lifting in excess of 75 pounds common.  Ability to distinguish colors required.
