GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Paralegal position provides general clerical and paralegal support to CHC/SEK’s Legal Department. This position may perform some legal research and maintain contract/legal files and documents. Additionally, this position will be responsible for gathering, preparing and summarizing relevant materials, indexing and tracking documentation sent externally and internally, for reviewing and drafting agreement, facilitating business transactions, and assist with managing and ensuring compliance within CHC/SEK’s Legal Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide general clerical support to CHC/SEK’s Legal Department, including, but not limited to, writing correspondence, maintaining schedules/calendars, screening phone calls, filing, etc.
- Organize and maintain documents using an electronic and/or paper filing system, including CHC/SEK’s internal Contract Log.
- Maintain CHC/SEK’s gap insurance information and corporate records (e.g. policies, procedures) of CHC/SEK.
- Prepare legal correspondence and legal documents with supervision.
- Collect supporting documentation/information necessary to complete legal agreements, MOUs, and contracts.
- Ensure documents necessary for business transactions, such as land purchases, loan agreements, etc. are prepared timely and accurately.
- Compile documents necessary for surveys, audits, and legal/administrative claims.
- Create and maintain databases to track pertinent operational and legal information.
- Ensure tracking of deadlines associated with agreements, contracts, etc. is maintained and communicated to appropriate staff.
- May perform some legal research including gather statutes, decision, and legal articles, codes, document, and other data.
- Assist with oversight of law students.
- Assist with special project management as directed by CHC/SEK’s General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer and Deputy General Counsel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Two (2) years legal experience, preferred.
- Associate’s Degree in business or related field, preferred.
- Current Paralegal certification or obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- Valid Driver’s License as travel may be required.
- Must possess organizational skills and be able to prioritize duties.

- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organization’s policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.
- Must have strong time management skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Computer work is frequent. Good lighting and comfortable temperature of ventilation at all times.
