Oak Crest is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. The nurse will be responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of our Director of Nursing. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others.

* Knowledge and practice of safe lifting and back care techniques.
* Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
* Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics adequately so that the tasks of this position can be fully met, to include the use of supplies and equipment.
* Ability to comply with all DeKalb Area Retirement Center rules, policies and procedures
* Good physical health and emotional stability
* Ability to employ patience, motivation, and tact in dealing with residents, staff, and the general public
* Ability to deal effectively with geriatric residents, multiply handicapped individuals, and potentially stressful situations
* Will be required to work weekend and holiday hours
* Ability to have a clear understanding of own responsibilities
* Ability to make clear to subordinate staff expectations
* Other duties as required or assigned

Unit manager and Health Services administration
Minimum Educational Requirements:
* Requires certification of graduation from an accredited nursing program
* Knowledge of normal and abnormal developmental characteristics of the elderly
* Demonstrates competency in basic nursing skills
License Required:
Current RN Licensure in the state of Illinois
Experience:
* Two years of professional, clinical nursing, and supervisory experience is desirable.
* Knowledge of the principles of safe and effective nursing practice
* Extensive knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local requirements for a long-term care facility is desirable
* Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice
* Extensive knowledge of medications and safe medication administration
* Extensive knowledge of pain assessment and treatment in the elderly
