Job Description
Project Luong is looking for an Architectural Designer with 8 to 10 years’ experience to join our growing firm. This brave soul should be willing and able to work on all things Architecture – including marketing work, winning work, developing work, finalizing work, going to the site to observe other people working on the work, and enjoying work.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team in the preparation of deliverables for all project phases including, but not limited to space plans, schematic design packages, design development packages, and construction documents.
- Lead the team with managing the overall scope, budget, and schedule for the projects.
- Translate concepts and information into working drawings and details that conform to standard construction methods, project budgets, and T&T drawings standards.
- In depth understanding of building and accessibility codes and how to shepherd a project through the permitting process.
- Travel to project locations as needed for field verification, construction coordination, and contractor supervision. Typical travel frequency 1-2 times per month.
- In depth knowledge of structural, architectural, civil, and MEP engineering to the extent necessary to coordinate and integrate these disciplines into the construction documents.
- Coordinate with General Contractors during the construction phase including bid review, submittal review, RFI responses, & site visits as required.
- Working knowledge of Revit - even mundane details should look like works of art.
- Take on project wide responsibilities and grow into a full project manger
- Work and play well with others – this is a profession practiced with others, not individually.
- Be flexible – we’re a small firm, so it’s all-hands on deck for any task.
Qualifications
- Minimum BArch or MArch from an accredited university.
- 8 to 10 years of work experience with another Architecture firm.
- Must hold an active Architect license in Texas.
- Be able to communicate and lead a team.
- Can’t stress enough, we’re a small firm and we all work together. Nobody does just one thing. We need folks who can work fast and pay attention.
- In-depth understanding of Microsoft Office, Revit, Autocad, Sketchup, and Enscape.
- In-depth understanding of how construction documents get put together and how to read them.
- Work and play well with others – this is a profession practiced with others, not individually.
Notes
- Our interview process is two-fold, starting with a phone call with a principal and followed up with a second interview to visit our office and meet the team.
- Salary range for an experienced Licensed Architectural Designer is $80k to $100k.
- We offer flexible hours and some remote workdays; however, you must reside in the Houston area and report to the office a minimum number of days per week.
