Overview
The Marketing Director oversees the strategic direction, execution, and management of Abundant Life’s marketing and external communication efforts. This individual leads a team in creating and delivering innovative and effective content across multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission of seeing lives changed by Jesus and vision of being living proof of a loving God to a watching world. This position will also oversee the overall communication and social media direction of the church, including media relations.
Personal Responsibilities
· Be committed to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18; 1 Peter 2:2) by assembling for instruction in God’s Word and engaging in the personal study of God’s Word.
· Responsibly use the resources at your disposal to foster the mission and vision of Abundant Life (1 Peter 5:1-4).
· Participate in an Abundant Life group (Acts 2:41-42) as well as the discipleship ministry (Matthew 28:18-20).
· Live in a way that glorifies God and aligns with the staff core values (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).
· Be committed to giving to the needs of the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-7 & 9:12).
· Become a member of Abundant Life.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Leadership and Oversight
· Lead and manage the Marketing Department, including web, social media, and content writing teams.
· Provide spiritual and professional leadership to marketing staff, interns, and volunteers, fostering growth and alignment with church values.
Communications Strategy
· Oversee all forward-facing communications to the public and media, maintaining brand standards and communication policies.
· Collaborate with internal teams to develop clear, effective communication processes.
Content Creation and Management
· Guide and oversee the development of social media content for Abundant Life and Pastor Phil.
· Work closely with the video production team to write compelling scripts for marketing projects.
· Manage the church website, ensuring content reflects life change, storytelling, and inspiration.
Project Management
· Act as the project manager for web, social media, and content writing, prioritizing, scheduling, and meeting deadlines.
· Oversee analytics related to website performance, social media engagement, and media impact.
Community and Media Relations
· Develop and nurture relationships with local press and media to enhance the church’s public presence.
· Champion collaboration between ministries, ensuring effective communication via social and web platforms.
Volunteer Development
· Recruit, train, and mentor volunteer leaders to support the marketing team, particularly in social media and content writing.
Strategic Partnerships
· Engage actively with agency partners, contributing to strategy and planning sessions.
· Stay current with trends to maintain a communication style that resonates with the community.
Other Responsibilities
· Practice discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
· Proven experience leading teams in marketing, communications, or public relations roles, ideally in a church or nonprofit setting.
· Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities, with impeccable grammar and spelling.
· Strategic thinker with a focus on innovation and forward-thinking solutions in content creation and communication strategies.
· Proficient in digital marketing, including social media platforms, web analytics, and SEO strategies.
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop team members and volunteers.
· High attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Familiarity with storytelling and creative content development, aligned with the mission of the church.
· Commitment to practicing the church’s core values and demonstrating spiritual maturity.

Experience
· Three to five years of experience in leading a communications team is required.
· A college degree in marketing or communications or related field is recommended.
